Digital Twin of High-Voltage Infrastructure

The 3D viewer – an information solution for the spatial and data-driven overview of high-voltage (HV) power infrastructure – is ELES’s first digital twin.

ELES, the operator of the combined transmission and distribution power grid, is the guardian of the Slovenian power system. It is a key element of energy stability in Slovenia, while also being closely connected to the transmission networks of neighbouring countries and integrated into the European energy system.

ELES boasts one of the most technologically advanced networks, for which it plans advanced management and maintenance approaches. To this end, we are developing a 3D viewer, ELES’s first digital twin of high-voltage infrastructure.

It is designed to support asset management, projects, and maintenance processes, as it provides users with a unified 3D insight into the infrastructure and related technical, spatial, and operational data in one place.

It is conceived as a long-term platform for the development of advanced management and maintenance approaches. It is connected to the client’s existing information systems and enables the following:

• integration of spatial, technical, and descriptive data,
• a unified overview of assets, devices, and facilities,
• the use of data for further analysis and decision support.

The solution enables multi-level viewing of facilities and devices, linking 3D visualisation with data from backend information systems, and access to associated technical documentation, which significantly simplifies the work of expert services and improves the transparency of the network’s status.
